Apply to the Masters of Medical Science Program
Please review the application procedures and then apply for the LECOM Master of Medical Science degree program.
Applicants to the LECOM Master of Medical Science (MMS) program must complete an application. Click the link above to be directed to a MMS Inquiry form. You will have the option of choosing the Bradenton campus, the Erie campus or both. The Office of Admissions will process your inquiry and within a few days of submitting the form, you will be provided with a username and password to log in and fill out the application. Submission of the application requires a $50 non-refundable application fee payable by credit card.
Candidates must meet the following admission requirements. Applicants must have a minimum 2.7 science grade point average. Successful candidates typically have both science and overall grade point averages of 3.2 or above.
Applicants to the Erie Campus- Master of Medical Science
Applicants must submit to LECOM:
- A completed online application prior to July 1 annually.
- $50 application fee.
- One letter of recommendation from a premedical/pre-health committee OR
two letters from core science professors from the applicant’s undergraduate/graduate school. - Original copies of:
- DAT scores for those interested in the School of Dental Medicine
- If taken, MCAT scores for those interested in the College of Medicine
- In lieu of MCAT scores only, LECOM may use an Academic Index Score (AIS) that uses undergraduate and any graduate GPA in a formula calculation with ACT and/or SAT Critical Reading and Math scores.
- Original copies of all undergraduate and graduate transcripts
The College will take into consideration the highest MCAT score result from an exam taken within the past three years from the point of the application. LECOM will not combine tests to “super-score” an exam.
Applicants to the Bradenton – Master of Medical Science
Applicants must submit to LECOM:
- Completed online application prior to June 1 annually.
- $50 application fee.
- Two (2) letters of recommendation from the applicant’s undergraduate/graduate school. Either one (1) letter of recommendation from a premedical/pre-health committee and one (1) letter from a core science professor OR two letters from core science professors
- Original copies of:
- GRE scores for consideration of admission to the MMS Program only;
- DAT scores for those interested in the School of Dental Medicine;
- MCAT scores for those interested in the College of Medicine. The College will take into consideration the highest MCAT score result from an exam taken within the past three years from the point of the application. LECOM will not combine tests to “super-score” an exam. A competitive MCAT score for MCATs taken prior to January 2015 is around 27. For MCAT tests taken after January 2015, a competitive score is the 40th percentile or higher.
- In lieu of MCAT scores only, LECOM may use an Academic Index Score (AIS) that uses undergraduate and any graduate GPAs in a formula calculation with ACT and/or SAT Critical Reading and Math scores. See below for the AIS calculator.
- PCAT scores for those interested in the School of Pharmacy. (NOTE: PCAT scores are waived for graduates of the MMS program).
- original copies of all undergraduate and graduate transcripts.
For both campuses, applications will be reviewed when an application file is complete. A file is considered complete when all documents listed above (respective to campus) are received.
Other important information to consider:
- The MMS-Bradenton Program begins in July each year and is completed in April the following year, with graduation in June.
- The MMS-Erie Program begins in August of each year and is complete in May of the following year, with graduation in June.
- The MMS is a one-year, non-thesis program.
- The deadline to apply to the MMS-Bradenton Program is June 1st.
- The deadline to apply to the MMS-Erie Program is July 1st.
- Students who successfully complete the MMS program and apply to LECOM through the channels appropriate to their area of interest (medicine, dentistry, or pharmacy) and meet all other standards and requirements for admission, will be assured of an interview.
Academic Index Score
Your Academic Index Score can be calculated using either your ACT score and GPA, your SAT score and GPA or using both your ACT and SAT scores and GPA. Please select which method you would prefer to use.*
If applying the Academic Index Score, official test score reports (SAT or ACT) must also be submitted.
