This was an amazing experience that we got to have through ACOS-MSS (American College of Osteopathic Surgeons- Medical Student Section) at LECOM-Erie! We got to connect with Orthopedic Surgery Residents to learn how to properly cast each other. It was an awesome opportunity to learn and engage with other students! - Jacob Steinbeck

The largest benefit of the LECOM Seton Hill clinical curriculum to me was having an allotted vacation month in which I had enough time to study for board exams, which will benefit me greatly in the residency match. I also had enough time to finalize wedding plans and get married. It's safe to say that this allotted time is a great benefit to student well-being and mental health! - Geno Petrarca

As a LECOM Chapter Leader for the Student Osteopathic Medical Association (SOMA) in Erie, I had the honor of attending 3 House of Delegates sessions this past year as a voting delegate for our school. It was an incredible experience to collaborate with passionate medical students and vote on resolutions shaping the future of medicine! - Shannon Klein

Hello! My name is Sarah Wang, and I am the SGA President at our Erie campus. As president, I have the privilege of representing LECOM nationally at conferences such as OMED (pictured here), Educating Leaders, and the AOA House of Delegates. These experiences have allowed me to connect with physicians, policymakers, and students across the country, gaining invaluable insight into the broader landscape of osteopathic medicine. Engaging in these national forums has strengthened my leadership, deepened my understanding of healthcare advocacy, and enriched my education by bridging classroom learning with real-world application and professional collaboration.

"That definitely gives you an edge."

— Dr. Jennifer Coseo, Coordinator of The Early Acceptance Program (EAP) at LECOM at Elmira.

As the largest medical school in the United States, LECOM gives students access to an extensive network of affiliated hospitals and residency programs that already know the quality of LECOM graduates.

One of the biggest advantages of the Early Acceptance Program? The people you'll have beside you every step of the way. Dr. Jennifer Coseo describes our EAP students as their own "built-in support system" during their undergraduate years. Together, they learn, grow, and build friendships that make the journey to medical school even more meaningful.

Give Kids a Smile reminds me why I chose dentistry—to make a difference in my community and help every child feel confident and cared for during their dental visit. It’s such a special day filled with learning, laughter, and compassion, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to help create positive dental experiences that kids will carry with them for life. Experiences like this remind me how much impact we can have beyond the classroom, both as students and future dentists.

I am a current D2 at LECOM Bradenton's SDM. I love being part of a dental program that takes a hands-on, non-traditional approach—one that truly prepares me for real doctor-patient relationships and clinical excellence. As a first-generation student, I wanted a school that would shape me into an exceptional doctor and empower me to make a difference in my future patients’ lives. - Angela Bylina

One of my favorite things about being a medical student at LECOM Elmira is the variety of outreach projects that I've had the opportunity to be involved with. This year I helped the Buffalo Bills host the Code Blue kickoff event to mark the beginning of the winter season in Buffalo, NY. It's very rewarding to be able to help my community not only by providing health care, but also by providing additional community resources.

Returning to Buffalo, NY for my clinical rotations has allowed me to take advantage of a great perk that LECOM offers its students -- free Buffalo Sabres tickets! I have enjoyed attending various sports events during my time at LECOM, both as a fan and as part of the medical team. - Jennifer Kachelmeyer

Three Down, Four To Go - Running Halfway Around The World
Mark Badaracco, LECOM's Executive Director of Enrollment Services and Information Systems, just returned from the BMW Berlin Marathon, where he placed 2,137th. Mark finished the 26.2 miles in 2:53:16, placing 226th in his age group and in the top 4% of 56,000 runners.
The Berlin Marathon marked the third of the Abbott Big 7 races, the seven most prestigious races in the world, that Mark has completed. With Berlin, Chicago, and Boston complete, Mark still has New York City, Sydney, London, and Tokyo to go.
Closer to home, Mark recently ran the Erie Marathon, where he finished 1st in his age group and set a personal record of 2:47:53. On and off the course, LECOM is cheering for you!

LECOM’s Erie campus holds a special place in my heart because Erie has been my home since my time at Gannon University. I’ve come to love everything the city has to offer, from relaxing at Presque Isle to visiting Port Farms just minutes outside of Erie and enjoying community events like Celebrate Erie and other local festivals. This photo was taken in the sunflower field at Port Farms, which perfectly captures the charm and natural scenery this area has to offer. Erie offers a wonderful balance between city life and the calm of the countryside. The city provides the perfect mix of a welcoming atmosphere and peaceful places to study, like the Bayfront and local coffee shops. LECOM Erie combines a strong medical education with a close-knit, supportive environment, and I can’t imagine a better place to continue my journey in medicine. - Jana Thomas
