Master of Medical Science Degree
LECOM offers a one-year, non-thesis Master of Medical Science (MMS) degree in Erie, PA, and the Bradenton, FL campus. The mission of the MMS program is to academically, scientifically, and professionally prepare students to attend a professional program, such as osteopathic medical, dental, podiatry or pharmacy school.
This program is offered at LECOM Bradenton and at LECOM Erie and will provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to develop life-long strategies for professional and career development, enhance written and oral research presentations skills, and learn principles and strategies for becoming effective team members.
At the LECOM Bradenton campus the program encompasses 40 weeks of study in three sessions as follows:
- Summer Session of Fall Semester – 8 weeks of study (7 credits)
- Fall Session of Fall Semester – 16 weeks of study – (15 credits)
- Spring Semester – 16 weeks of study (16 credits)
At the LECOM Erie campus the program encompasses 38 weeks of study in two sessions of 19-weeks each:
- Fall Session (August to December/ 19 weeks)
- Spring Session (January to May/ 19 weeks)

Masters of Medical Science- Erie
The Master of Medical Science Program is a two-semester, non-thesis course of study designed to enhance the science background of participating students. Classes are held daily Monday through Friday for two 19-week periods. Classes are not held on designated holidays, and other holidays or occasions as so identified. Classes start in August and are complete in May of the following year.
Masters of Medical Science – Bradenton
The MMS program is a one-year non-thesis degree program designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to develop life-long strategies for professional and career development, enhance written and oral research presentations skills, and learn principles and strategies for becoming effective team members. Within this one-year, non-thesis program, students are exposed to a variety of biomedical science courses.

Students who successfully complete the MMS program and apply to LECOM through the channels appropriate to their area of interest (medicine, dentistry, podiatry or pharmacy) and meet all other standards and requirements for admission will be eligible for an interview.
