Honored to present our neurosurgery research poster with my mentor, Dr. Mills, at the 2025 AANS Annual Meeting in Boston! Dr. Mills has been an incredible mentor since my second year at LECOM ... I’ve had the opportunity to shadow him in clinic, assist in the OR, and collaborate on several research projects. We’ve presented at multiple symposiums, including the Schwid Symposium and now the AANS, focusing on advancing technology in spine surgery — from spinal cord stimulators to robotics. Grateful for the chance to represent LECOM and share our work in the neurosurgery field! – Anna Haymov

The ACOS-MSS Club at LECOM at Seton Hill Participated in an OR Walkthrough at Independence Health Westmoreland Hospital. The walkthrough included touring multiple Operating Rooms, designated for different specialties. Students toured pre- and post-operative areas and learned more about the hospital's daily operations, better preparing them for rotations.

Dr. Thomas Yoon, Dean of the LECOM School of Dental Medicine and Board-Certified Periodontist, generously shared his insights and expertise with 3rd-year dental students recently, providing tips on Dental Residency Programs, the application process, how to prepare, and what to expect. Our students were grateful for the chance to connect and learn from Dr. Yoon.

LECOM’s School of Podiatric Medicine welcomed Dr. Andrew G. Puckett, who is Chief of Podiatry at the Veterans Health Administration in Buffalo and directs the Comprehensive Limb Salvage Fellowship at VHA Western New York. Dr. Puckett was eager to meet our students, and we were excited to learn of his experiences and get his perspective on Podiatry.

Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) rotations put PharmD students in the field, applying everything from the past three years and choosing the clinical areas that matter most to them.

A Couple of "Firsts"
Dr. Vivek Kumar and Dr. Natalie Novak captured a moment together at this year’s Suncoast Classic Tournament, representing the legacy of education and achievement. Dr. Kumar, a distinguished member of LECOM’s first graduating class in 1997, stands alongside Dr. Novak, a proud graduate of the inaugural Doctor of Healthcare Administration Class of 2023. The tournament also included Dr. Kumar’s son, Noah, a professional golfer, embodying the spirit of resilience and determination.

LECOM Bradenton this week was the site of a U.S. House Ways and Means SubCommittee Field Hearing on "Modernized Health Care in Practice: Empowering Americans to Live Healthier Lives” today.
We were honored to serve as the host for this Congressional field hearing. We are especially proud that Dr. Mark Kauffman, Dean of Academic Affairs, has been called upon to share his knowledge and perspective with the Committee, highlighting the critical role of osteopathic principles in advancing prevention, wellness, and cost-effective care delivery.

“Superhero” Smiles

LECOM Erie’s 4th-year dental students served 88 children from the community for its latest “Give Kids a Smile” Event. Mr. Tooth was on hand to add to the bright smiles, while 36 volunteer students provided dental screenings, cleanings, and over 60 sealants. This free dental care clinic embodies the superhero service our community deserves!

Celebrating Service During National Osteopathic Medicine Week -
Growing Community

Funded by the Erie County Health Department, a gardening club began work on a community garden in Erie. The goal is to grow produce for residents in the community, then host farm markets in the neighborhood where residents pay what they can; if they cannot, they get the produce for free. About 12 LECOM Erie students come out to start working the land, clearing garbage and weeds, and laying down good soil. It was hard work, but everyone was eager to jump in and help!

LECOM at Elmira students and faculty changed into their best for Casino Night 2026! It was an exciting evening with great energy and friendly competition for a good cause.

Casino Night raises money for the LECOM Student Scholarship Fund. It's also an opportunity to come together for a night of camaraderie and celebration, all while supporting the next generation of healthcare leaders!
