Three-Year Accelerated Pathway
Three-Year Accelerated Pathway – Erie
LECOM provides a strong foundation in patient-centered care, equipping its Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) graduates to be effective members of the healthcare team across all areas of practice.
The curriculum begins with an introduction to the profession of pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences while reinforcing core science principles. Students then transition into a system-based curriculum that integrates pharmacotherapeutics and clinical exposure from the very first year. This approach ensures a comprehensive foundation in clinical sciences, extending throughout the didactic phase and continuing into the Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPE) in the third year. The APPE year includes six rotations, each lasting six weeks, in both community and clinical settings.
What sets LECOM Erie apart from other pharmacy schools includes:
- Innovative, year-round curriculum that enables students to complete the program in three years instead of four, allowing them to enter the workforce or residencies a year earlier.
- Unique experiential opportunities within LECOM Health, an academic osteopathic health center where students collaborate with pharmacists, physicians, nurses, dentists, and other health care professionals in a dynamic inter-professional environment.
- Seamless integration of science and practice throughout the program, preparing students for the evolving healthcare landscape.
- State-of-the-art facilities designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed for 21st century pharmacy practice.
- Opportunity for advanced education through LECOM’s Masters degree programs in Biomedical Ethics, Health Services Administration, Public Health, Medical Cannabinoid Therapeutics and Medical Education.
The future is bright for LECOM Pharmacy graduates, as the demand for pharmacists continues to rise, driven by the increasing medication and healthcare needs of an aging population. Graduates have access to diverse career opportunities in a variety of practice settings, including: community pharmacy, hospital, industry, ambulatory care, managed care, government, academia, and beyond.
