Starting clinical rotations can feel overwhelming. There's so much to take in, new responsibilities, and then all of a sudden, you're applying everything you've learned in real life.

There is some magic in this.

OMS3 Maggie Ferrara found her stride at Flagler Hospital, where she's experienced a "first assist" culture amongst her preceptors. Working closely with them, she is actively participating, thinking through differential diagnoses, proposing care plans, and getting immediate feedback that only enhances her clinical skills and instincts.

It's hands-on, fast paced, and exactly the kind of environment that helps our future physicians grow confidently.

Connecting Talent with Opportunity!

Our Class of 2027 Pharmacy students in the Erie, Bradenton, and Distance Education pathways recently stepped into a high-impact Virtual Career Day, putting their skills in front of over 30 leading employers. With CVs shared with the companies in advance, interviews were focused, meaningful, and fast-tracked.
We're incredibly proud to open these doorways for our students and empower the next generation of Pharmacy professionals.

Then and Now!
My name is Molly Krumenacker, and I am an OMS-II at LECOM Seton Hill. When I was a little kid, my dream was to be a doctor. I used to steal my dad's nursing books off the shelf because I have always been interested in anatomy. This natural interest is what drove me to apply for medical school and become a physician.

Excellence in Training, Education, and Service

During my time as a 4th-year dental student at LECOM Erie, I had the great opportunity to serve at the Mission of Mercy Pittsburgh Dental Clinic. It is a weekend of free dental, hearing, and vision care. It felt great to see many patients alongside my peers and serve the community. The experience has already had a lasting impact on my dental education!

Recharge, Reset

Fresh air, sunshine, and a chance to step away for a bit — our LECOM at Elmira Garden Club visited our community garden, spending time getting everything in shape for the spring season. From clearing out winter brush to prepping the raised beds, it was the perfect reset.

Moments like these are a great reminder of how important it is to slow down, recharge, and take care of your well-being — even in the middle of medical school.

Our LECOM at Elmira students had a blast volunteering at the Southern Tier Heart Walk, benefiting the American Heart Association, at the Oakdale Commons in Johnson City.

This fundraising event is to fight heart disease and stroke through research, education, and CPR training. What a way to impact our local communities!

Balancing a demanding professional education with marriage has shown me what partnership looks like when life is hard.

During exam weeks and late nights, my spouse takes over with our kids, handles bedtime, and keeps things steady at home so I can focus and do my best in school.

We get through this season by leaning on each other, giving grace on the exhausting days, and knowing that my academic success is not an individual achievement but a shared one.

Being part of the Global Underserved Medicine Club brought me to the Dominican Republic this summer to serve communities with limited access to healthcare. It was one of the most fulfilling and transformative experiences of my life. Witnessing firsthand the challenges others face made me incredibly grateful for the resources I have and reaffirmed my reason for wanting to become a physician and dedicate my life to helping others.

Dr. Regan Shabloski voted to VP of POMA

We’re proud to share that LECOM’s Regan P. Shabloski, D.O., has been elected Vice President of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association.

Dr. Shabloski is the Assistant Dean of Plans, Operations, Training, & Safety at LECOM Erie, and has been with LECOM since 2007, beginning as the director of Clinical Education. He served in the PA National Guard for 27 years. Dr. Shabloski served in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, receiving the Combat Medic Badge.

Dr. Shabloski has taught and lectured extensively, in addition to holding numerous certifications and professional memberships. He is a recipient of the John M. and Silvia Ferretti Award for Distinguished Teaching, and the ACOFP Master Preceptor Award.

He is also a proud grandfather.

Studies show that nearly half of medications for chronic disease are not taken as prescribed.
