Alumni Spotlight - LECOM Class of 1998 Alumnus John Lucas, D.O., is currently the founding Dean and Chief Academic Officer of the proposed Illinois College of Osteopathic Medicine at The Chicago School, created to address a growing physician shortage, improve access to care, and to better serve its local community. The new school will see its first students in the fall of 2026. Congratulations on this tremendous achievement!

LECOM Health recently held a groundbreaking ceremony at the site of the new Colonial Family Pharmacy at 210 E. State St., Suite 2A, in Albion.
The 3,400-square-foot building will sit adjacent to LECOM Health’s Northwestern Area Health Center.
“This pharmacy is part of our broader rural health initiative – an effort to ensure that high-quality, accessible care is available in every corner of our region,” said James Lin, D.O., President of LECOM Institute for Successful Living.
Colonial Family Pharmacy in Albion joins LECOM Health’s existing Erie locations – 3822 Colonial Ave. and 5702 Peach St. – where convenient and efficient access to vital medications and support services is available.
“While retail chains and individual pharmacies are struggling, selling, or closing, our pharmacies are positioned to thrive,” said Danielle Hansen, D.O., Regional President of LECOM Health.

Big congratulations to Dr. Shailesh Rajguru, LECOM Bradenton's Region Dean, who was recently named Doctor of the Day by the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association. During a session of the Florida State Legislature, Dr. Rajguru met key leaders and sat in on hearings.
Dr. Rajguru also took his expertise to New Orleans this spring, where he presented on Alzheimer's disease and emerging therapies as part of his new initiative, Doctors At Your Service (DAYS) - a project bringing physicians into communities to educate and empower.

We had a fantastic time at LECOM Interprofessional Research Day on April 24, 2025! It was great to host the event in person at the School of Dental Medicine, celebrating the hard work of our dental students. We saw over 20 diverse research projects, from clinical case reports, reviews, to experiments, presented by more than 45 students.

“Community Caring Connections” project receives grant funding

Congratulations to LECOM Erie faculty member Dr. Melodie Chludzinski, who received a grant from the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association to help fund student volunteer work. As Dr. Chludzinski and students visit the Senior Living Center and other assisted living facilities, this money will help offset the cost of Bingo prizes, holiday cards, personal hygiene items, craft supplies, clothes, and other things that may seem little, but go a long way in brightening someone’s day!
