The Podiatry Residency Program at LECOM/Millcreek Community Hospital was established in 1983. The mission of the LECOM/LMC, Podiatric Medicine & Surgery Residency (PMSR/RRA) Program is to inspire, promote and support the investigation, knowledge and education of the ankle and foot.

LECOM Medical Center and Behavioral Health Pavilion is vigilant to provide a sound academic, clinical and educational foundation for all Podiatric Residents. The LECOM/LMC, Podiatric Medicine & Surgery Residency (PMSR/RRA) Program has been developed with special emphasis on an interdisciplinary approach and meticulous care to all lower extremity disorders.

Overview

This is a CPME approved PMSR/RRA (reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery) training program. This program is based at LECOM Health Center and Behavioral Health Pavilion in Erie, PA with additional rotations at UPMC Hamot as well as multiple local surgery centers. Three to four residents are accepted per class.

Externships

We accept up to 2 externs per month. Externship is not required, but recommended. During externships, students will rotate through different hospitals and offices to work with our many different attending doctors. They will do one on-call weekend during their month. Free student housing is offered through LECOM. If unable to participate in an externship, visiting is recommended and can be set up through contacting any of the residents, program director, or the Residency coordinator Kaitlin Hanes at khanes@mch1.org.
