One Night Only!
St. John's Riverside Hospital in New York named Dr. Silvia M. Ferretti, LECOM Provost, Senior Vice President, and Dean of Academic Affairs the recipient of the Helen Andrus Benedict Community Strong Award. Earlier this year, a film crew came to LECOM Erie for an interview and photos - all part of a video tribute, celebrating Dr. Ferretti as an honored guest at the hospital's gala!
Congratulations, Dr. Ferretti!
We are proud of our partnership with St. John's Riverside Hospital, which many of our LECOM students go to for their rotations and later as residents.
The gala allowed Dr. Ferretti to connect with friends old and new, as well as see Dr. Michael DiGiorno, the hospital's Chief Operating Officer and LECOM alumnus!

Receiving my white coat was a huge moment for me. My parents flew in from California, and my aunt and uncle from Ohio were able to join as well. It marked a pivotal moment in my journey to medical school and helped solidify the importance of the future to come. – Mia Tornel

The Herbal Medicine Club at LECOM’s School of Pharmacy continues to cultivate hands-on learning through its Fall Planting event and on-campus herbal garden.
Founded in 2016, the club unites students across pharmacy and medicine programs to explore the connection between plants, health, and wellness. The garden—established earlier this year—serves as a hub for education on food deserts, sustainable planting, and the importance of community collaboration.
LECOM extends sincere thanks to the Manatee County Agriculture & Extension Services Division and Natural Resources Department for their continued partnership and support.

I loved the problem-based learning approach that challenged us to think critically every day at LECOM Seton Hill. Teamwork is at the heart of everything we do at LECOM at Elmira, and that includes supporting our community!

Our Elmira Aviators medical team had a blast bonding at the season opener (yes, we even tried using our stethoscopes to “listen in” on the pre-game speech😆). We’re proud to stand behind the Aviators, ensuring athletes and fans alike can enjoy a safe and exciting season. Here’s to a year full of camaraderie, great games, community spirit, and teamwork both on and off the ice!

So many reasons to choose LECOM at Seton Hill!
I chose the LECOM Seton Hill Campus because of its lively community, proximity to Pittsburgh, and Problem-Based Learning pathway style. There are so many fun things for my friends and me to do in Greensburg, including night markets, trivia nights, and plenty of tea and coffee shops. I am so glad that I chose the PBL pathway because it gives me the perfect balance of collaboration and independent study time – Brynn Thomas

Congratulations to LECOM’s Mark Badaracco, Executive Director of Enrollment Services and Information Systems, on his run in the Chicago Marathon! Mark hit his goal time with 2:50:07.

The effort was nothing short of extraordinary – and beyond the challenge of a marathon! Mark’s commitment to student success drove every step of his run, powered by his mission to raise funds for the LECOM Student Scholarship Fund.

Our congratulations to LECOM Bradenton’s Director of Research and Professor of Pharmacology, Dr. Anupam Bishayee, and to LECOM Alumna, Dr. Taylor E. Collignon!
Their publication titled “Cancer Prevention and Therapy with Nutritional Science: Addressing the Gap in Medical Education and Practice,” is available in the open-access journal MedComm.

I chose LECOM Bradenton for their PBL pathway, allowing me to truly engage with the content I am learning rather than just memorize it.
The PBL curriculum has not only taught me important concepts, but also how to think like a physician and work through a patient case as if it were a real patient. My PBL groups have all bonded and become very close as we worked through PBL cases together. Most importantly, I have made some really good friends who all support each other through the process!

School of Dental Medicine Students are on a Mission of Mercy

This past Saturday, 36 LECOM Dental Students and 6 Clinical Faculty participated in the Mission of Mercy held in Pittsburgh. This annual event has donated free healthcare totaling over $10.5 million since 2017. It’s open to children and adults who lack access or cannot afford care. Over 1,900 volunteers served more than 2,000 patients this past weekend.

Care is provided on a first-come, first-served basis, serving ages 2 to 87. Over 9,374 dental procedures were performed with LECOM Dental Students making a tremendous contribution. Dr. Susan Calderbank, Director of Outreach at LECOM's Dental School, highlighted the students' eagerness to participate and the selfless donation of their entire Saturday to serve these patients. “Our students are a cut above, and it was never more evident than on Saturday. Watching them made me proud!”
