Dr. Don Millner has been appointed Director of the AEGD Program in Bradenton, Florida.
Dr. Millner, MAGD, LLSR, FICOI, joined the faculty of the LECOM School of Dental Medicine in 2016 and currently serves as an Associate Professor of Clinical Dentistry. A 1978 graduate of Temple University School of Dentistry, Dr. Millner began his academic career teaching at his alma mater before becoming licensed in Florida.
He holds the Academy of General Dentistry’s highest distinction of Mastership, an honor achieved by less than 2% of its members. He is also a recipient of the prestigious Lifelong Learning and Service Recognition (LLSR) and has earned Fellowship status with the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.
Originally from New Hope, Pennsylvania, Dr. Millner practiced for 36 years in a renowned cosmetic, restorative, and implant dentistry office in the Philadelphia area. His practice was among the first to implement cutting-edge technologies, including digital records, lasers, CEREC CAD/CAM, digital radiography, and CBCT 3D imaging.
Dr. Millner’s distinguished career includes a commendation from the FBI for Dedication and Special Assistance, the awarding of five U.S. patents for his line of popular oral care products, and his role as a National Dental Boards Examiner.
Dr. Millner is deeply committed to mentoring and guiding the next generation of outstanding dentists and graduate students and is honored to continue doing so in this new leadership role.

We’re so pleased to announce Dr. William Bell as the new Director of Specialists at LECOM School of Dental Medicine. He has also been promoted from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor of Restorative Dentistry.
Dr. Bell is a proud native of Kentucky and a graduate of the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. Following more than 30 years in private practice in Florida, Dr. Bell joined LECOM School of Dental Medicine in 2021 as Assistant Professor of Clinical Dentistry/Prosthodontics. He currently leads all clinical and didactic activities in Removable Prosthodontics.
Dr. Bell is an active contributor to the Curriculum Affairs Committee, Curriculum Committee, Leadership Development, Specialists Committee, and Implant and Dental Kit Committees. He also serves on the School’s Quality Assurance and Emergency Response Teams. Additionally, he is the Faculty Advisor to the American Student Dental Association chapter at LECOM and serves as the Ethics Chair for the School of Dental Medicine.
A Life Member of the American Dental Association, Dr. Bell is also a Delegate to the Florida Dental Association and the West Coast District Dental Association, which honored him with their Distinguished Service Award. He is a Past President of the Sarasota County Dental Association and a Consultant Examiner for the Commission on Dental Competency Assessments, the Western Regional Examination Board, and the Council of Independent Testing Agencies, administering the ADEX exams.
Dr. Bell holds Fellowship status in the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists, and the Pierre Fauchard Academy.

Please join us in giving a warm welcome to Dr. Ashminie Misir, our new Assistant Professor of Basic Science and Anatomy! Dr. Misir brings an inspiring combination of academic excellence, medical training, and a passion for education. She earned her B.S. in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Biomedical Physics and her Master’s in Medical Sciences (with a focus on Anatomy) from the University of South Florida. She recently completed her M.D. at St. George’s University School of Medicine.
As a researcher, Dr. Misir presented neuroscience findings at the Society for Neuroscience Convention and was the first author on a published clinical case report. Her dedication to education is evident through years of tutoring, mentoring, and community service in clinical settings.
Now at LECOM, Dr. Misir is committed to inspiring the next generation of healthcare leaders—starting right here in the anatomy lab.

Brandon Wiley, Founder and CEO of OpenedEyes (@oe_whatru), was recently on campus at LECOM Erie to facilitate meaningful dialogue with our Bridging the Gaps student interns about inclusivity and culturally conscious care.

Bridging the Gaps (@btgupdates) is a community service internship offered to osteopathic medical and podiatry students at LECOM over the summer between their first and second year, during which they create health-related service projects for under-resourced populations in their local community.

LECOM School of Podiatry Dean, Dr. Duane Ehredt, while recently on military leave at the U.S. Naval Academy, was stationed in the Bancroft Hall Medical Department Ortho/Sports Med Clinic. Here is Dr. Ehredt, at left, with LECOM alumna LCDR Sean Lacey, Director of the Ortho/Sports Med Clinic!
Dr. Ehredt lent his support to Dr. Lacey’s team as they medically processed about 1,200 incoming freshmen about to be inducted into the Academy and helped treat any orthopedic injuries sustained during basic training.
Our thanks to Dr. Ehredt, LCDR Lacey, and all our brave members of the military for their unwavering service, strength, and sacrifice.

The Erie Art Museum and Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine have begun a partnership that not only extends memberships to all LECOM students, faculty, and staff but will also provide Visual Thinking Strategies workshops for students.
“Art in medical training can enhance observational skills and critical thinking, LECOM’s Dr. Silvia Ferretti, Provost, Senior Vice President and Dean of Academic Affairs, said. “It can assist a student in developing a holistic understanding of their future patients and their experiences.”

The Doctor of Healthcare Administration (DHA) program at the LECOM School of Health Services Administration was founded five years ago, but the coursework has always had a significant focus on digital tools, virtual medicine, and now AI skills.

Professor Marcos A. Sanchez-Gonzalez, MD, PhD, says digital tools are becoming an increasingly important part of a doctoral education. “To me, the question is not whether to learn AI skills. The only question is, will you learn them now from a helpful expert or be forced to adopt them in a crash course in the future?"

NextGen research tools, virtual medicine, and advanced AI skills are taught to each doctoral student. Dr. Sanchez-Gonzalez says, "By the time they graduate, DHA students will know how to use AI to streamline workflows, improve administration, conduct AI-assisted research, and also use AI to rapidly organize and consolidate information gained from the search process."

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Latania Williams as the Assistant Director of Patient Care Services at LECOM School of Dental Medicine in Bradenton.
Dr. Williams is a proud native of Kissimmee, Florida. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Florida in 2005 and subsequently graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 2010. She spent several years practicing with Heartland Dental Care before joining the LECOM School of Dental Medicine in Spring 2021 as an Assistant Preceptor of Restorative Dentistry in the D3 Clinics.
Since joining LECOM, Dr. Williams has made meaningful contributions by participating in Grand Rounds and serving on both the Culturally Inclusive Care Committee and the Admissions Committee. Her commitment to student success and enhancing the educational experience at LECOM is at the heart of her work.
