Purpose:

To provide an educational experience to interns:

  • To better prepare them to pursue an orthodontic residency by enhancing their application.
  • To provide an elevated level of orthodontic knowledge and experience to the general dentist who wants to provide orthodontic care in their practice.

More Information

Provide clinical experience and didactic knowledge in all phases of orthodontics beyond the scope of undergraduate dental school.

This includes:

  • Orthodontic record taking
  • Diagnosis and treatment planning
  • Case management: hands on treatment and decision making
  • 15 case starts
  • Fixed appliances / brackets and clear aligner therapy
  • Monthly rotation in the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital (JHACH) Craniofacial and Cleft Palate Team clinic. This will include orthodontic treatment of these cleft palate patients at LECOM.
  • Research
  • Teaching and mentoring dental students
  • Guest lecturers
  • Collaborative / team based learning in lectures, seminars, journal club and case presentations
  • 11 months (July 1 – June 1)
  • Monday through Friday 8am – 5pm
  • 1200 CE hours / credits
  • Non-degree, non-certificate granting program
  • $35,000 ($1,500 non-refundable deposit due upon acceptance)
  • $50 application fee
  • $500 technology fee
  • $500 equipment fee
  • There may be additional fees to include computer (LECOM approved), scrubs, and textbooks
