Dr. Francis DeFabo, MD

Background and Experience

Dr. DeFabo is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist with nearly three decades of clinical experience as the founder and managing partner of Athena Women’s Care in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. In addition to his clinical career, he has been actively involved in medical and undergraduate education, serving as a lecturer at LECOM, an instructor in the Seton Hill Physician Assistant Program, and an adjunct professor of bioethics at Saint Vincent College.

Following his retirement from clinical practice, Dr. DeFabo transitioned to full-time work as a ceramic artist and co-owner of fdp Studio+Shop. This unique dual background informs his academic perspective on the value of creativity as an essential component of thoughtful, observant, and compassionate medical practice.
