There was a great turnout for LECOM's first campus visit to Widener University, our newest LECOM affiliate school. The students really enjoyed the soap carving, which helps in evaluating manual dexterity. A great time was had by all!

LECOM-Seton Hill had the privilege of hosting the AOA President and AOA CEO for a campus visit and Meet/Greet during National Osteopathic Medicine Week 2025! Pictured are the SGA and Class Officers of the Class of 2027. The Mayor of Greensburg also issued a Proclamation for NOM Week during a public Greensburg City Council Meeting. As an osteopathic medicine student, it was an honor to be part of this!

LECOM Erie welcomed Vasso Paliouras, Founder and Executive Director of Lending Hearts, a nonprofit that provides emotional, social, and physical support to those living with cancer, particularly children and young adults, and their families.
By creating opportunities and experiences where families can connect, share, and find joy and laughter, Lending Hearts is a community that keeps families from facing the journey alone.
A student-led Lending Hearts Club here at LECOM Erie and an event this fall is in the works!

One of the student clubs that I’m a part of at LECOM is DO2 Max, which hosts a variety of physical activities and events. On this hot day, the other members of DO2 Max and I had the opportunity to do a three-mile run with Dr. Kulesza and his daughter!

LECOM Erie's feathered friends are on the move this spring! The first family of 2026 has arrived, and the goslings are growing fast. Also ready for their close-up are the turkeys at the Bayfront campus, and this hawk on the roof of the Wellness Center. Let's go Spring!

Rehab Reimagined
Participating in the rehabilitation of children with autism and cerebral palsy has enriched my medical school experience with unique and clinically relevant experiences.
Through the practice of Hippotherapy, children with functional or cognitive difficulties are able to engage in therapy in a more personal manner, allowing them to connect to the activities in a way unlike any other form of rehabilitation.
By volunteering in Hippotherapy over the summer and during my second year of medical school, I was able to assist in many different activities and be exposed to the inner workings of this unique form of occupational therapy.

The 2026 HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America) Conference was recently held in Harrisburg. More than 2,000 students attended, and at least 500 learned about LECOM’s Early Acceptance Program. Many students also stopped by to try soap carving and test their manual dexterity. They were often surprised by how well they did! Future dentists in the making!

I have been a boxer and MMA fighter for as long as I can remember. As a LECOM at Elmira student, when I was offered the chance to provide ringside medical care at the Gladius MMA fights, I immediately jumped at the opportunity. It was extremely gratifying to combine both of my passions for fighting and sports medicine.
Assessing broken noses, concussions, and lacerations all felt strangely nostalgic because I remember having those same assessments performed on me. This experience supercharged my desire to pursue sports medicine, and I am eternally grateful to Dr. Lambroussis, Dr. Gulati, and Dr. Mallouk for giving me this opportunity.

LECOM at Elmira students worked with Schuyler County Head Start as part of the ACCEL Lead Screening Clinic.
LECOM OMS4s Chris Cahn, Jonathan Sembrat, and Liz Ziemer Farrell from Elmira Economic Opportunity Program, conducted child lead screenings and education to the local community, demonstrating our dedication to the health of the community we serve.

LECOM's School of Podiatric Medicine welcomed reps from Hoka to the Erie campus for a fantastic presentation on shoe gear technology and finding the right footwear. On your feet all day? Got patients who are? Or maybe you'll have patients recovering from an injury or dealing with other issues. After a panel discussion with LECOM experts, students hit up the Hoka rack and went for a run!

Congratulations to LECOM’s Dr. Anupam Bishayee on his appointment to the National Academy of Osteopathic Medical Educators (NAOME) as one of two Fellows in the Teaching and Evaluation category.

His appointment will allow him to help shape the future of osteopathic medical education.

NAOME is a service-focused academy, and Fellows play a critical role.

Dr. Bishayee’s work embodies the spirit of osteopathic medical education – holistic, integrative, and student-centered – and it is this alignment of character and practice that will make him an exceptional Fellow.

LECOM at Seton Hill proudly celebrated National Osteopathic Medicine (NOM) Week in April with a series of events highlighting the osteopathic profession and its impact on the community.
The week began with a special moment of civic recognition at the Greensburg City Council Meeting. Members of LECOM at Seton Hill SGA and Class of 2029 Officers attended the meeting at Council Chambers in City Hall. LECOM at Seton Hill received an official proclamation naming April 13-21 National Osteopathic Medicine Week in the City of Greensburg.
We also celebrated NOM Week with a visit from POMA President George J. Wolters, D.O. He shared valuable insight into the osteopathic profession and enjoyed lunch with students.
Throughout the week, we had basket raffles, games, and special events.

LECOM Erie’s Marina Seheon, outgoing President of the LECOM SAOAO chapter, received a scholarship at the recent Orthopedics conference in Orlando. She’s been an active member of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics and was commended for her research presentation.
