Meet Dr. Joseph Kase. An SDM alumni and part-time faculty from the Class of 2018 who was recently accepted into a post-doctoral endodontics program.
“My dental journey began at LECOM in 2014, where I developed a strong foundation in clinical dentistry and a growing interest in endodontics. After graduating in 2018, I entered private practice, gaining experience across all disciplines of dentistry. By my fourth year of practice, I realized my passion for endodontics and desire to specialize.
I am drawn to endodontics because of its unique challenges and rewards. It requires navigating complex procedures, critical thinking, and delivering high-quality care. I became a part-time clinical preceptor at LECOM SDM in 2022. The following year, I completed a Guided Mentorship in Endodontics supervised by LECOM’s exceptional Endodontics Department—an invaluable experience that solidified my aspirations.
In 2024, I applied and was accepted into the University of Louisville Endodontics Residency. My journey has been one of continuous learning and growth, and I am grateful for the experiences and relationships that have shaped my path. “

In March 2024, students from the LECOM School of Pharmacy – Erie, Bradenton, and Distance Education – represented LECOM at the APhA Annual Meeting in Orlando, FL. During the conference, students participated in CE courses, networked with professionals nationwide, and attended the APhA House of Delegates meeting. Some students presented their projects and competed in the national Clinical Skills Competition, further showcasing the academic and clinical excellence of LECOM School of Pharmacy on a national stage – Sareen Mustafa, SOP scholarship recipient.

Service! During my pre-clinical years at LECOM, I made sure that volunteering was a priority for me outside of school. Organizing and dropping off cards for Brighten a Day or putting together hygiene bags for D.O. More Erie offered a nice break from studying, and I could feel like I was making a difference in the community. LECOM was so proud of first-year medical student Ishali Rajguru, who beautifully sang the National Anthem at the recent Spring Training Orioles/Pirates baseball game for "LECOM Day" in Sarasota, Florida. Ishali is the daughter of Dr. Shailesh Rajguru, Regional Dean and Clinical Assistant Professor of Neurology. Dr. Rajguru also threw out the first pitch!
