LECOM Pharmacy Students Receive Their White Coats

On Saturday, February 18, 2012, pharmacy students at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine marked the transition from classroom study to clinical education when they received their white coats at the Ambassador Banquet and Conference Center.

The white coat ceremony is a LECOM tradition inspiring these future health care professionals to pledge to uphold professionalism and competence in the presence of their families, professors and peers. Their education takes them on a new pathway where they will interact with physicians and other pharmacists in clinics, hospitals and pharmacies throughout the country. This is a time when students begin their pursuit of providing quality healthcare for the lifetime of their patients.

Special guest speaker and LECOM alumni Rebecca M. Wise, Pharm.D., addressed the students about the pharmacy career. Dr. Wise of is an alumnus of the LECOM class of 2005.

Presenting the white coats for the School of Pharmacy were Sachin S. Devi, Ph.D., Director of Curriculum, Rachel R. Ogden, Pharm.D., Associate Dean of Faculty and Mary E. Ray, Pharm.D., Director of Experiential Education.
