A native of Baltimore, Maryland, and a 1986 graduate of the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, Dr. Colvin began her career as a dental officer with the United States Navy. After 10 years of honorable military service, she continued her dental career with the Virginia Department of Public Health. In 2000, she launched a private general dentistry practice in Chesapeake, Virginia. Dr. Colvin owned and operated her private practice for 12 years. After many years as a clinician, Dr. Colvin began a second career in dental education. She began teaching full-time at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in Baltimore, Maryland. Currently, she teaches full-time as an assistant professor of restorative dentistry at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine School of Dental Medicine (LECOM-SDM) in Bradenton, Florida. She is a member of the American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, Sarasota County Dental Association, American Association of Women Dentists, and the American Dental Education Association.
