Biography
A native of Baltimore, Maryland, and a 1986 graduate of the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, Dr. Colvin began her career as a dental officer with the United States Navy. After 10 years of honorable military service, she continued her dental career with the Virginia Department of Public Health. In 2000, she launched a private general dentistry practice in Chesapeake, Virginia. Dr. Colvin owned and operated her private practice for 12 years. After many years as a clinician, Dr. Colvin began a second career in dental education. She began teaching full-time at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in Baltimore, Maryland. Currently, she teaches full-time as an assistant professor of restorative dentistry at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine School of Dental Medicine (LECOM-SDM) in Bradenton, Florida. She is a member of the American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, Sarasota County Dental Association, American Association of Women Dentists, and the American Dental Education Association. Dr. Colvin also received her Master of Science in Medical Education degree from LECOM in May 2021, with honors.
