Biography
Dr. Sean E. Matheny is an Assistant Professor of Restorative Dentistry at LECOM School of Dental Medicine in Bradenton, FL. He instructs third year dental students in clinical dentistry. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from The Ohio State University in 1997 graduating summa cum laude. After spending two years teaching mathematics at Ohio State, Dr. Matheny decided to attend dental school at Ohio State. He then received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2003 and was presented the Carl O. Boucher award as the top prosthodontics student in his class. Since then, Dr. Matheny has owned private practices in Ohio and Florida during his 20+ year career.
Dr. Matheny started as part time clinical preceptor in 2021 with LECOM. He was awarded part time preceptor of the year in 2022. He loves seeing students become clinicians with sound approaches to diagnosis and treatment planning. He also has a strong interest in medical/dental ethics and seeing students learn to build trust in the doctor-patient relationship.
