Mathew J. Bateman, Ph.D., D.H.Ed. is Dean of the LECOM School of Dental Medicine and serves as Director of Institutional Planning, Assessment, Accreditation and Research. Dr. Bateman completed his undergraduate education at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. Upon completion of his undergraduate work, Dr. Bateman, matriculated at the University of Iowa College of Medicine in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology. Dr. Bateman's thesis research was completed with Alexander Sandra, Ph.D., while at Iowa, Dr. Bateman, participated as a teaching assistant in the Gross Anatomy, Neuroscience, and Histology courses. Following the completion of his doctoral degree, Dr. Bateman spent a year as a post-doctoral fellow at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia followed by his first academic appointment at a small undergraduate college, Chadron State College. Dr. Bateman joined the basic science faculty at LECOM in 2006.  During his time at LECOM, Dr. Bateman  completed a second doctoral degree from the School of Health Management at A.T. Still University in Health Education, 2009.
