Biography

Mathew J. Bateman, Ph.D., D.H.Ed. is the Assistant Provost for Institutional Effectiveness at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) located at the Bradenton, Florida Branch Campus. Dr. Bateman completed his undergraduate education at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. Upon completion of his undergraduate work, Dr. Bateman matriculated at the University of Iowa College of Medicine in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology. Following the completion of his doctoral degree, Dr. Bateman spent a year as a post-doctoral fellow at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia followed by his first academic appointment at a small undergraduate college, Chadron State College. Dr. Bateman joined the basic science faculty at LECOM in 2006 as an Assistant Professor of Anatomy and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2009, and Full Professor in 2015. During his time at LECOM, Dr. Bateman completed a second doctoral degree from the School of Health Management at A.T. Still University in Health Education, 2009. Dr. Bateman is the former Dean of the LECOM School of Dental Medicine, Assistant Dean of Curriculum, Faculty and Assessment in the College of Medicine, and Assistant Pathway Director of the Lecture Discussion Pathway (LDP) and Primary Care Scholars Pathway (PCSP) in the College of Medicine in Erie, Pennsylvania.
