Biography

Following a classical medical training at the University of Bologna, Italy, Dr. Schiavone completed an internal medicine residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. As a board-certified internist, Dr. Schiavone maintained hospital privileges both at Arnot Ogden Medical Center and St Joseph’s Hospital, Elmira NY, as well as provided outpatient primary care while in private practice. He has also served as medical director of St. Joseph’s Skilled Nursing Facility, and under the auspices of AMDA, The Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care, completed training as a Certified Medical Director. As an adjunct clinical professor for LECOM, it has been my pleasure to instruct third-year medical students during their internal medicine rotations. Dr. Schiavone has also had the privilege of precepting internal medicine residents both in the inpatient and outpatient settings. After 36 years of active clinical medical practice, he hopes to provide medical students engaged in PBL training with the unique perspective of the seasoned practitioner while sharing his enduring passion for medicine. On a personal level, as husband, father, and grandfather, it is Dr. Schiavone’s desire to see this next generation fulfill their full potential as clinicians, practitioners, researchers, and scientists as well as to grow and mature in their relationships with family, friends, colleagues and the community they serve.
