Biography

Elizabeth Ferrer, PhD is a LECOM joint faculty member between the College of Medicine and School of Podiatric Medicine, as well as the Director of Preclinical Curriculum in the School of Podiatric Medicine. She received her doctorate in Integrative Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, where she focused on comparative anatomy research and teaching. She then completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the American Museum of Natural History before joining Stony Brook University Renaissance School of Medicine as a research instructor teaching anatomy in the medical and health science programs while continuing her research. Prior to joining LECOM, she was an Assistant Professor of Anatomy at Samuel Merritt University teaching gross anatomy in various health science programs.

Since completing her doctorate, she has focused on education and mentoring along with research. She has an interest in educational outreach, volunteering for various programs at elementary and high schools, as well as participating in anatomy education and science education outreach initiatives.
