Biography
Dr. Eliane Porto Barboza has taught Periodontics for 38 years at Fluminense Federal University (FFU), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. After obtaining her D.M.D at FFU, she continued her education at Boston University School of Dentistry, where she earned a Certificate, Master’s, and Doctor of Science’s degrees in Periodontics. Back in her country, she mentored numerous students and developed many research projects leading to more than 100 published articles. Dr. Barboza is consistently recognized for her commitment to excellence in academic dentistry and has received several awards throughout her career. Dr. Barboza prides herself of being the first south American women to become a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. Currently, Dr. Eliane Porto Barboza is a Professor of Periodontology at LECOM School of Dental Medicine.
