Biography

Dr. Gupta obtained his B.S. (Pharmacy) from Guru Jambheshwar University, India. He later joined Poona College of Pharmacy to obtain his M.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, where he was involved with the synthesis and evaluation of prodrugs of anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer agents. After his M.S., he underwent training at Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI), Lucknow, India in drug design and molecular modeling. Dr. Gupta’s Ph.D. dissertation mainly focused on the design, synthesis, and biological evaluation of mechanism-based inhibitors targeting malaria. Dr. Gupta later joined University of Michigan as postdoctoral research fellow under Dr. Gordon Amidon at the Center for Molecular Drug Targeting, where he was involved in design, synthesis, in-vitro,in-situ and in-vivo evaluation of drugs targeting Influenza. He was also involved with MRI active contrast agents for the diagnosis of solid tumors. He has published several articles, abstracts, and presented his research in many scientific conferences. He is an active reviewer of diverse journals like Journal of Proteome Research, Current Drug Delivery, European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education. Besides teaching and research at LECOM, Dr. Gupta has served important committees like Admissions Committee, Student Promotion and Graduation Committee, Curriculum Committee to name a few.
