Biography

As a native of Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, Dr. McAllister moved to Erie, Pennsylvania in 1986, where she attended and graduated from Mercyhurst Prep High School. She received her bachelor’s degree in Biology from Gannon University, Erie, Pennsylvania in 1992 where she graduated with a Cum Laude honor. While at Gannon University she was a member of Tri Beta, a Biological Honor Society and was awarded for her research in Microbiology. In addition, she served as the Invertebrate Zoology teacher assistant while completing her studies at Gannon University. She received her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from The University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1996. Upon graduation from dental school she provided general dentistry at Community Health Net and then continued her dental career in private practice for over two decades in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Dr. McAllister started working as a full time faculty at LECOM School of Dental Medicine in the role of Assistant Professor of Restorative Dentistry in 2021.Dr. McAllister enjoys mentoring and advising fourth year dental students, preparing them to successfully complete their dental boards and progress to practice after graduation. She truly enjoys sharing her wealth of experience and knowledge with her students. As a bilingual educator, she appreciates collaborating side by side with students from many diverse backgrounds.

As LECOM faculty Dr. McAllister also participates in various outreach programs that include dental screenings for rural school aged children and geriatric patients at senior living facilities in the Erie area. She also serves as a member of the LECOM Curriculum Committee, Faculty Development Committee and Continuous Quality Insurance (CQI) Committee and previously served in the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee.

Dr. McAllister has focused much of her time to be current on continuing dental education and has been very active in organized dentistry with memberships to the American Dental Association, Pennsylvania Dental Association and Erie County Dental Association.
