Duo Amal brings Hands, Heart, and Harmony to Erie and Elmira

PACA/Elmira Country Club benefit concerts support the LECOM Student Scholarship Fund, helping LECOM scholars pursue their education.

Two benefit concerts in Erie, Pennsylvania and Elmira, New York will pair world-class piano artistry with support for LECOM students pursuing medical education.

This November, audiences in Erie and Elmira can experience the expressive artistry of Duo Amal and simultaneously support the next generation of health-care professionals.

Pianists, Yaron Kohlberg and Bishara Haroni, bring a remarkable partnership to the stage.  Their performances are known for musicality that is both moving and energetic, with the two artists playing in close dialogue:  listening, responding and shaping a shared interpretation.  Their programs have featured works ranging from Schubert and Rachmaninoff to Milhaud, Khachaturian and Shostakovich.  They also offer contemporary and well-known standards.

The duo’s name, “Amal” means “hope” in Arabic.  Kohlberg and Haroni have described music as a way to encourage communication and connection across communities.  That spirit gives these concerts a special resonance:  an evening of remarkable music made meaningful through a shared commitment to students and their futures.

Proceeds from both performances will benefit the LECOM Student Scholarship Fund, supporting students across the LECOM campuses as they pursue medical education.

Scholarships ease the financial demands of professional training, allowing students to focus upon their studies and preparation for careers caring for patients.  The benefit brings that support directly into the communities where LECOM students learn and train.
