Required Participation in Osteopathic Principles and Practices

Participation in Osteopathic Principles and Practices laboratories are a requirement for admissions consideration and graduation.

All LECOM medical students are required to fully participate in the osteopathic principles and practice laboratories during the first two years of their medical education.  This will involve learning hands-on diagnostic and treatment skills necessary to earn the doctor of osteopathic medical degree and to pass those portions of the licensing board exams involved with osteopathic principles and practices.

This means that all medical students will be required to use touch (palpation) as they learn how to examine and treat patients as they train with their fellow students. To accommodate this hands-on training, proper attire is required. Men and women must wear sports shorts with elastic waistbands. Women are required to wear sports bras. T-shirts should be worn when not being palpated.
