Background and Experience
Dr. Harikesh Dubey is a pharmacologist and trained pharmacist whose research focuses on gut microbiome, neurological disorders and drug safety. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Pharmacology at LECOM, Elmira, NY. He earned his Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of Delhi, India, where his research focused on the role of nitric oxide modulators in Alzheimer’s disease. During his tenure at Michigan State University, where he served as a Postdoctoral Researcher and later as a Research Assistant Professor, his work focused on investigating the role of gut microbiome in neurodevelopmental disorders. At LECOM, Dr. Dubey actively mentors DO students in research activities.
His current research program focuses on:
- Characterizing the gut microbiome and elucidating its mechanistic roles in the pathophysiology of neurodevelopmental disorders.
- Investigating the impact of dietary modifications on gut dysbiosis across various disease conditions.
- Developing a digital platform to analyze gut dysbiosis and evaluate how lifestyle and dietary interventions can improve the gut microbiome and improve patient quality of life.
