About Raj Gulati, MD, FACS
Assistant Professor of Anatomy and General Surgery
Background and Experience
Dr. Raj Gulati completed his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences at Brown University, and his medical degree at the University of Vermont College of Medicine (now called the Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine). He went on to the University of Buffalo Medical and Dental Consortium to complete a residency in general surgery. Dr. Gulati is board certified in general surgery through the American Board of Surgery, and he has been a fellow of the American College of Surgeons since 2002. He enjoyed a productive career in general surgery, first in the Catskill region of New York State, and then in Elmira, NY. His practice focused on simple and complex hernia repairs, neonatal, pediatric and adolescent surgery, endocrine surgery, biliary tract surgery, open and laparoscopic GI tract surgery, oncological surgery, and trauma. He also participated consistently on procedures related to pain management.
He has long been involved in the teaching and training of nurses, mid-level providers, medical students, and residents. In 2021, he stepped back form clinical practice to join the faculty at the newly opened Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine campus in Elmira, NY. In Elmira, he coordinates the human anatomy course, and he serves as a Problem Based Learning facilitator. He is also the faculty advisor for the Student Government Association (SGA) and the Class Officers for each of the classes.
