The School of Pharmacy received two of the PPA’s three Student Organization Awards:

  • PR & Communications Award – recognizes the School of Pharmacy that has made outstanding strides in community outreach and communications so as to enhance patient care and public health while also strengthening the profession. LECOM’s student pharmacists support drug take-back events and offer community health fairs and educational presentations on prescription medication misuse and abuse and medicine safety for children, among other areas. In addition, the LECOM School of Pharmacy was selected for two national awards earlier this year for its success in promoting education and awareness during the Script Your Future Medication Adherence Challenge.
  • Membership Award – recognizes the School of Pharmacy that has made outstanding efforts in membership, participation, and recruitment of students. The award is designed to encourage student pharmacists and their respective colleges to become involved in professional organizations, with the end goal of strengthening the pharmacy profession. During a recent membership drive, student officers in LECOM’s chapters of the American Pharmacists Association-Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) and PPA organized a campaign to encourage their fellow student pharmacists to pursue membership in the organizations. The campaign was designed to communicate the benefits of membership and expedite the application process.
