LECOM produces more primary care physicians than any other U.S. medical school, according to new data released today by U.S. News & World Report.
The standings, part of U.S. News & World Report’s annual ranking of medical schools, are based upon the percentage of graduates who entered the primary care field between 2019 and 2021. According to the report, 69% of LECOM students enter primary care residencies upon graduation during that period. In 2021 alone, approximately 317 of LECOM’s 551 College of Osteopathic Medicine graduates entered primary care programs following commencement, more than any other U.S. medical school.
Data in the new U.S. News & World Report also shows LECOM offers the lowest tuition among private U.S. medical schools at just $37,900 per student per year, based on 2021 information. Additionally, LECOM remains the largest medical school in the nation with 2,495 students enrolled in its College of Osteopathic Medicine program at campuses in Erie and Greensburg, Pennsylvania, Bradenton, Florida, and Elmira, New York.
LECOM currently enrolls more than 4,400 students across all disciplines, including its College of Osteopathic Medicine, School of Pharmacy, School of Dental Medicine, School of Health Services Administration and Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. Today nearly 16,000 LECOM alumni are delivering quality health care across the U.S.
