LECOM Celebrates Research Excellence as Record Number of Students Conduct Studies and Present Projects at Annual Event

In 2025, a record number of research projects were conducted and presented at the April 24th LECOM Interprofessional Research Day event in Bradenton. FL. This year alone, over 1,000 LECOM’s  1st to 4th year medical students conducted 237 studies working with their faculty mentors.  Students present in person or virtually at this innovative event. All posters are officially judged by faculty and community healthcare leaders. Awards are then granted for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers. As part of the research day activities, LECOM students review and score 2 research posters using a standard template, one in their core discipline and one interprofessional poster. All students view the themed keynote speaker and complete and submit a 10-question quiz on the key elements of the presentation.

Per Dr. Timothy Novak, Dean of the LECOM School of Health Services Administration and Florida Research Day Event director; “We have realized amazing growth in student research over the past decade, with a clear focus on patient wellness, osteopathic principles of whole person care, and community well-being…creating graduates who are better prepared to navigate today’s healthcare system”. Poster research projects and artifacts are cataloged in LECOM’s archives to facilitate longitudinal studies and future research.
