Biography
Dr. Heemer is a professor at the LECOM School of Pharmacy. Dr. Heemer received Bachelor of Science with major in chemistry and minor in biology from Gannon University, Master of Business Administration from Cleveland State University, and Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the LECOM School of Pharmacy. He completed general pharmacy practice residency (PGY1) at Saint Vincent’s Health Center in Erie, PA.
Before starting his career in academia, Dr. Heemer managed production operations for a specialty chemical industry for two decades. Prior to switching from fulltime to part-time faculty position at the LECOM School of Pharmacy in 2023, Dr. Heemer maintained clinical practice site at the Community Health Net in downtown Erie for 16 years where he was a member of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, authored policies and procedures for medication use, and precepted pharmacy students on advanced clinical pharmacy rotations.
Dr. Heemer teaches and coordinates various courses at the LECOM School of Pharmacy including neurology, respiratory, and infectious diseases. In addition to teaching at the School of Pharmacy, Dr. Heemer is closely involved with various committees including Institutional Review Board and Experiential Education Department for the School of Pharmacy.
