Biography

Dr. Khalid’s post-graduation training was in Internal Medicine, 3-year residency training and 3 years combined Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship training in New York SUNY Stony Brook University affiliated hospitals. Dr. Khalid is Board certified in all three specialties and currently hold active board certification in Internal Medicine (Lifetime) and Pulmonary Medicine. He completed Lung Transplant observership at Johns Hopkins University Hospital in Maryland and completed Interventional Pulmonary Medicine observership at Children’s Hospital in Boston, MA.

          After completing his fellowship I established my private practice in St. Augustine, Florida in affiliation with Flagler Hospital (now UF Health Flagler Hospital). Beside his private practice he also participated in Hospital Staff administration. He served as Head of Pulmonary Department, Head of Critical Care, and Chairman of Department of Medicine (1991-1996).

In 1996, Dr. Khalid accepted a job as a Consultant Pulmonologist / Intensivist at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. KFSHRC is the largest academic tertiary care hospital in KSA. It is ranked 20 in International rankings of Academic Universities. It is a 1500 bed hospital facility that provides state of the art medical care and full organ transplant services. He worked at KFSHRC for 26 years.

Dr. Khalid also served as Head of the Pulmonary Department for several years, and he helped establish the Pulmonary Department. The Pulmonary subspecialty care (general pulmonary, lung transplant, interventional pulmonology and sleep medicine. He helped to establish the Pulmonary Medical full fellowship program at KFSHRC and to date 50 fellows have graduated from the program and have joined different hospitals in the country providing services in Pulmonary medicine.

KFSHRC is affiliated with AlFaisal University College of Medicine. He obtained full professorship rank and actively participated in students, residents and fellows teaching, training, and their examinations. He has given several Grand Rounds national and international.
