Biography

Dr. Follen earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry from Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, PA. Prior to pharmacy school, she worked as a research specialist at the University of Pittsburgh in the Division of Infectious Diseases. Her lab performed complex virological assays utilizing infectious HIV-1; Dr. Follen’s focus was to examine the effect of HIV infected patients’ antiretroviral therapy to determine if their medications were properly suppressing their viral loads. Dr. Follen pursued pharmacy school to apply her undergraduate and research experiences to becoming a pharmacy practice clinician and educator. She earned her pharmacy degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Upon graduation, she completed her PGY-1 pharmacy residency at Millcreek Community Hospital-LECOM Health where she simultaneously earned her Master of Science in Medical Education degree.
