Biography

Mary Badawy, Pharm.D., is an Associate Professor of Pharmacology at the LECOM School of Dental Medicine. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree with highest honors from the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers University in Piscataway, New Jersey. Before entering academia, Dr. Badawy practiced in both community and hospital pharmacy, serving as a Pharmacy Manager with Walgreens Co. and as a staff pharmacist at Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville, New Jersey.

Since joining LECOM in 2017, Dr. Badawy has assumed several educational and faculty leadership roles and currently serves as Director of Problem-Based Learning (PBL), Director of Special Issues in Patient Care, and Director of Safety and Emergency Preparedness. Prior to becoming Director of PBL, she served for many years as a PBL facilitator and contributed to curriculum development, faculty onboarding and training, and student mentorship. As an Associate Professor of Pharmacology, she has played a key role in supporting student success and contributing to academic outcomes that have exceeded national benchmarks.

Dr. Badawy has also served as President of the Faculty Council and Chair of the Scholarship and Awards Committee. Her commitment to teaching has been recognized with four Facilitator of the Year Awards. She is actively involved in student scholarship and mentorship, including mentoring a student research project that received first-place recognition at LECOM Research Day. Her scholarly interests include problem-based learning, substance use disorders, and orofacial pain.

Dr. Badawy is committed to helping students develop their knowledge, confidence, and professional potential. Outside of academia, she values faith, family, and community and enjoys playing tennis and vacationing with her family.
