Biography
During her Ph.D. at Boston University and New-England Biolabs, Dr. Cohen-Karni worked on the novel MspJI family of restriction endonucleases and application in epigenetics. She has completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Harvard (Boston Children’s Hospital) working on the intestinal stem-cell niche in mouse models, using lineage tracing and genetic analysis. Dr. Cohen-Karni has been a post-doctoral associate at the ophthalmology department at the University of Pittsburgh, working on outflow tract engineering, specifically investigating manipulation of the trabecular meshwork in ex-vivo human and porcine eye cultures, through vector transduction, ablation, and cell seeding. In her previous position at Allegheny General Hospital with the Neuroscience Disruptive Research Lab, Dr. Cohen-Karni explored the polymeric modification of opioids (such as Fentanyl) and proteins (such as BSA and DNase) via atomic transfer radical polymerization (ATRP).
