Biography

Born in Queens, NY to Armenian immigrants, Dr. David Oves Andonian earned his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in 2012 and earned his Master of Public Health (MPH) in 2008. He completed his emergency medicine residency at Lincoln Medical & Mental Health Center in 2016.

Dr. Andonian is board-certified in Emergency Medicine; he practices emergency medicine in Central New York and holds the position of Associate Professor with SUNY Upstate University Hospital as well as holing appointment of Clinical Faculty with both LECOM and UNECOM. In addition to clinical work, he contributes to academic training for future emergency physicians and engages in scholarly activities within his field. Dr Andonian has had multiple publications, editorials, book chapter contributor and poster presentations as well as having numerous lectures delivered at local, regional and national assemblies. Dr Andonian has been a fellow and active member of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) both as a NY State Councilor for ACEP and has served on the NY chapter of the Educational Committee. He also holds a similar position with the Society of Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM) as a member of their Educational Committee, both of which focus on promoting academic education both regionally and nationally.

Dr Andonian spent the last decade of his career in academic leadership at SUNY Upstate with the Emergency Medicine Residency Program having served as Associate Program Director and Residency Program Director. The residents and medical students perpetually rate him as one of their top bedside educators and for this he was awarded the Teaching Attending of the Year in 2019. He was also voted as the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor’s Society Faculty of the Year in 2024 and was inducted for membership in that same year.

Dr Andonian continues to work both academically and clinically at SUNY Upstate however, over the last several years, he has transitioned the focus of his career to the Mohawk Valley Health System at The Wynn Hospital in Utica, NY. It is at this location that he has taken a stake in the education of the LECOM and UNECOM students with both their clinical and didactic educational training.
