Biography

With a DDS, MS, PhD, and MPH, Carina is an accomplished Nature-published scientist with extensive experience in clinical settings, teaching, research, and student mentorship. With advanced degrees, she has developed Physiology and Human Anatomy projects, effectively taught undergraduate and graduate courses, and developed curricula aligned with contemporary methodology. Dr. Meyers’ PhD dissertation discussed fluoride neurotoxicity on the gastrointestinal tract from a novel perspective, evaluating fluoride effects on the Enteric Nervous System. Carina brings a record of productive research contributions, demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications. With a proven ability to adapt to various teaching modalities, she has delivered comprehensive instruction in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats, ensuring high-quality education. Dr. Meyers’ commitment to diversity and equity in education is evident in my integrative teaching practices and research, which prioritize global health topics that affect populations worldwide. As a mentor she has guided undergraduate and graduate students, fostering their academic growth and facilitating their involvement in significant research projects. Her collaborative approach extends to working with faculty colleagues on curriculum design and evaluation, enhancing instructional methods, and advancing departmental goals. In addition to teaching and research she has actively contributed to student recruitment, retention, and completion strategies, demonstrating a deep commitment to students’ success and institutional mission. Carina’s expertise also includes scholarly activities contributing to the local community. Carina’s career goal is to continue leveraging my comprehensive background in Human Anatomy, Physiology, and Neuroscience to enhance educational outcomes and promote a culture of excellence.
