Biography
Dr. Desautels is a veteran of the United States Army during the Vietnam Era and was trained as a field medic and worked in the ENT clinic at the 130th Station Military Hospital in Heidelberg, Germany.
Post military he continued as a professional educator in the state of Connecticut. During his forty or so years there, he worked for the Juvenile Justice System, the West Haven School System at all levels from elementary to adult education in most educational skill levels, and was actively engaged in city projects through association with the West Haven Council of the Arts. Retiring from public education in 2006 Dr. Desautels worked as a certified reading consultant for the state of CT. Dr. Desautels and his wife relocated to Florida in 2012 and he applied to LECOM for a position as a D1 facilitator in 2013 and began working in that position in September of that year. Dr. Desautels was honored to be voted as Facilitator or the Year in 2019. Dr. Desautels’ wife, Annette, has also found a place here at LECOM as a standardized patient in the medical building.
During his career in Connecticut, he was involved with theatre and other performing arts. Presently, he volunteers as a clown coach at The Conservatory of Circus Arts in Sarasota which is the longest running circus school in the United States. With great pleasure, Dr. Desautels Was the LECOM clown at the Annual Give a Kid a Smile Day at our Bradenton location for the last several years.
