Biography
Dr. Ashminie Misir is the Assistant Professor of Basic Science/Anatomy at LECOM School of Dental Medicine. She was the youngest graduate in over 30 years to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences, with a minor in Biomedical Physics, at the University of South Florida. Dr. Misir also holds a Master’s Degree in Medical Sciences, with a focus on Anatomy. She later pursued her M.D. degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine. Driven by an interest in research, Dr. Misir completed an internship at a neuroscience research lab under the mentorship of Dr. Ronald Mervis, where she quantified and analyzed neuronal data from animal brains. These findings were presented at the Society of Neuroscience Convention in 2014. Additionally, she is the first author of the case report “Perforated Emphysematous Cholecystitis: A Race Against Time.”
