Faculty-Student Collaborative Publication: Histopathological Insights into Heart Failure

Spirited congratulations to Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) third-year scholar Anthony DeSomma, and to Dr. Jeung Woon Lee, Associate Professor of Physiology at the School of Dental Medicine, for their recent publication entitled, Histopathological Analysis of Myocardial Remodeling Following Heart Failure: A Cadaveric Case Report, published in the peer-reviewed journal, Cureus.

This case study explores the histopathological changes in myocardial tissue obtained from a post-mortem cadaver with heart failure.  The research highlights key findings in myocardial remodeling, notably the presence of fibrosis and cardiomyocyte hypertrophy, providing crucial histological evidence of these processes in heart failure.

The scholarly works produced by LECOM students and faculty are a testament to the institution’s rigorous academic standards and commitment to excellence.  The comprehensive training, multiple learning pathways, and emphasis upon practical application empower LECOM scholars to conduct impactful research and to contribute significantly to the medical community.  This dedication to fostering critical thinking and scientific inquiry ensures that LECOM graduates are not only highly skilled practitioners, but also valuable contributors to the advancement of healthcare knowledge.
