A few weeks hence, the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) will confer the degree of Doctor of Science, honoris causa, upon Ronald Corti, recognizing a distinguished career in healthcare leadership defined by operational excellence, financial stewardship, and an enduring commitment to patient care and medical education.
The honorary degree will be presented by John M. Ferretti, D.O., President and CEO of LECOM, during a formal conferral at the College Commencement Ceremonies in Erie, Pennsylvania, to be held May 31, 2026. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, faculty, and the academic community, Dr. Ferretti will preside over the conferral with distinction, reflecting the institution’s deep respect for academic tradition and individual achievement. In awarding the honor, Dr. Ferretti and the College will recognize Mr. Corti’s decades of service as a transformative healthcare executive and his sustained commitment to advancing the LECOM mission of educating future physicians.
Mr. Corti currently serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of St. John’s Riverside Hospital in Yonkers, New York, where he has guided one of the region’s essential healthcare institutions through a period of strategic growth and organizational strengthening. Under his leadership, the hospital has expanded clinical services, enhanced financial stability, and deepened its capacity to meet the evolving needs of the community it serves.
Throughout his tenure, Mr. Corti has been recognized for his ability to translate vision into measurable outcomes. He has recruited and aligned physicians to strengthen key service lines, advanced innovative clinical programs in areas such as sleep medicine and cancer care, and implemented system-wide operational improvements that have elevated both quality and performance. His leadership has consistently reflected a balance of strategic foresight and hands-on execution.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Corti led the successful turnaround of Community Hospital at Dobbs Ferry, preserving its mission through close collaboration with medical staff, trustees, and community stakeholders. His efforts not only stabilized the institution financially, but also reaffirmed its role as a vital healthcare provider within the region. Colleagues have long noted his ability to unite diverse constituencies around a shared purpose, particularly in moments of challenge and transition.
In addition to his operational achievements, Mr. Corti has played a significant role in advancing institutional development and philanthropy. His leadership has supported major capital initiatives, including a campaign that exceeded its fundraising goal by more than $25 million. He also helped reshape fundraising strategy and launched programs that continue to generate meaningful annual support for hospital services and community health initiatives.
President Ferretti also will recognize Mr. Corti’s longstanding relationship with the LECOM. Through his stalwart involvement in student scholarship initiatives and philanthropic engagement, he has contributed to expanding educational opportunities for future physicians. His support has strengthened the LECOM mission and reinforced its commitment to developing the next generation of osteopathic leaders. LECOM scholars regularly train at St. John’s Riverside, under the supportive auspices of Ron Corti.
In conferring the honorary degree, LECOM will emphasize that Mr. Corti’s career reflects the core values of leadership, integrity, service, and dedication to the common good. The distinction will place him among a select group of individuals whose professional accomplishments and civic contributions have had a lasting impact upon healthcare and medical education.
The ceremony will conclude with a formal commendation recognizing Ronald Corti’s achievements and his ongoing influence within the healthcare community.
