Biography

D. Scott Lind, M.D. is the professor of medical education and surgery and the director of anatomy at the LECOM – Jacksonville campus. He is a board-certified surgical oncologist with over 30 years’ experience in academic medicine. He began his career at the University of Florida in Gainesville where he served as the served as surgery clerkship director, associate program director and chief of surgical service at the North Florida South Georgia VA Healthcare Network. Following this, he was the Jarrell distinguished professor and chief of surgical oncology at the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) in Augusta. Subsequently, he served as the chair of surgery at two academic institutions – Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia and more recently the University of Florida College of Medicine in Jacksonville. Following this, he served as designated institutional official (DIO) in charge of all graduate medical education (GME) programs and surgery program director at HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital outside of Jacksonville. Most recently, he was professor of medical education at the Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Allopathic Medicine Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He as numerous leadership positions at the undergraduate and graduate medical education level. To complement his passion for education, his research has focused on simulation and more specifically creating, validating, and integrating virtual technologies into health professions training curricula.
