Evincing yet another forward-moving mission of medical exceptionalism, Corry Memorial Hospital of LECOM Health recently received accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) to begin an Internal Medicine Residency Program.
The critical access hospital is the first in the United States to offer such a program.
The approval for nine residency positions was granted by the ACGME; and the Hospital will accept applications immediately with its first cohort beginning later this year.
John M. Ferretti, D.O., LECOM Health President and CEO, underscored the significant milestone attained with the establishment of an Internal Medicine Residency Program at the rural hospital.
“This accomplishment reflects alignment with our commitment to advancing health care in rural communities, providing valuable training opportunities for medical professionals, and contributing to the overall improvement of healthcare services,” explained the distinguished leader.
James Lin, D.O., LECOM Health Program Director and President of the LECOM Institute for Successful Aging will serve as the Internal Medicine Residency Program Director and Designated Institutional Official (DIO) responsible for oversight of the Program.
