The mission of NEO is to reveal, explore and characterize the
morphological substrate of complex neuroendocrine interactions in the human diencephalon. Although these associations are believed to control diverse and complex limbic and cortical functions from sexual and emotional behavior to responsiveness to stress and complex behavioral patterns, relatively little human data are available in this field.
Thus, our projects focus on understanding the regulation and interaction of the hormonal/neurotransmitter systems in the human brain, utilizing predominantly multiple-labeled immunohistochemistry combined with computer-guided 3D mapping.
