Dr. Bishayee has more than 25 years combined experience in health-science education, teaching, research, and administration. Dr. Bishayee received his bachelor of Pharmacy, master of Pharmacy and Ph.D. (in cancer prevention) from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India. Dr. Bishayee performed post-doctoral research on cell biology and cancer therapy at Rutgers University, Newark, NJ (formerly University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey) and completed a fellowship in Academic Medicine from Northeast Ohio Medical University (Rootstown, OH). Dr. Bishayee served as a faculty member at various colleges of medicine and pharmacy. Dr. Bishayee’s teaching interest includes pharmacology, integrated pharmacotherapeutics, oncology and cancer therapeutics, pharmacokinetics, and complementary and alternative medicine. Dr. Bishayee’s research interests for nearly the past two decades have been health-promoting and disease-preventive potential of bioactive natural agents with special emphasis on cellular and molecular mechanisms of action. Currently, his laboratory is involved in investigating cancer preventive and therapeutic effects of natural products, medicinal plants, phytochemicals, nutraceuticals, dietary and synthetic agents using various pre-clinical models of cancer, including breast and liver cancer, and associated mechanisms of action, especially anti-inflammatory and cell signal-modulatory effects. Dr. Bishayee has published numerous peer-reviewed original research papers and review articles, mostly in high-impact journals, book chapters and scientific abstracts and has delivered invited presentations at various national and international meetings.
