Healthcare Career Expo Will Address Staffing Needs for Several Organizations in Our Region

LECOM is hosting an employee recruitment event May 13 to promote job opportunities at several healthcare-related organizations throughout the region

ERIE, Pa. (April 4, 2024) — The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) today announced plans to host a healthcare career expo in conjunction with other Erie-area health systems and healthcare-related organizations on Monday, May 13, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Bayfront Convention Center. Organizations interested in participating can register for free now through April 30 at LECOMHealth.com/careerexpo. In addition to LECOM Health, AHN Saint Vincent and UPMC Hamot have already committed to participating.

Some of the available career opportunities will include:

  • Allied Health: Dietitians, Respiratory Therapists, Physical Therapists (PT), Occupational Therapists (OT), Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP), Physical Therapy Assistants (PTA), Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTA), and Radiology Technicians;
  • Healthcare Business Office: Coding and Billing Specialists;
  • Support Services: Housekeeping, Maintenance, Dietary, and Transportation positions;
  • Clinical Care: Medical Assistants (MA), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), and Registered Nurses (RN);
  • Behavioral Health: Therapists, Counselors, Mental Health Professionals, Mental Health Workers, Case Managers, Social Workers, and Behavioral Health Technicians.

The Healthcare Career Expo was initiated by LECOM President and CEO John M. Ferretti, D.O., to help address the need for more healthcare workers throughout the region.

“As a leader in healthcare education, LECOM recognizes the importance of partnering together with other regional healthcare providers for the benefit of the prospective employees so they can learn about various healthcare career opportunities all in one place,” Ferretti said. “We all share the common goal of providing the best care for our patients and being of service to the Erie community, and this event provides an opportunity for prospective employees to learn about the many rewarding careers in the healthcare field.”

In addition to learning about various career opportunities, attendees will also be able to talk with local professionals on the topics of finance, real estate, and insurance. The full slate of exhibitors will be announced at a later date.
