Health Sciences Post Baccalaureate Entrance Requirements

To be considered for admission to the College of Medicine Post Bac program, prospective students must satisfy the following minimum requirements:

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university;
  • Complete eight semester hours with at least a “C” or better in each class in the following areas of study: general biology with labs, general chemistry with labs, organic chemistry with labs, and four semester hours in general physics with lab;
  • Earn a cumulative grade point average of 2.7 or higher on a four-point scale; and
  • Applicants may be evaluated by using an Academic Index Score (AIS) rather than an MCAT in order to be considered for the program. This is calculated by using an SAT (math/reading) OR an ACT score combined with an overall undergraduate GPA. If an applicant has taken the MCAT exam, results must be within three years of the application year. Applicants who took the MCAT exam after April 2015 and are not using the AIS, must score in the 40th percentile or higher to successfully matriculate from the Post Bac program to the DO program.

Prospective students must complete and submit the Health Science Post-Baccalaureate Application form, along with a nonrefundable deposit of $50.00, to the Office of Admissions at least two weeks prior to the start of classes. The $50.00 deposit is applied to the tuition charges upon matriculation.


To be considered for admission to the School of Pharmacy Post Bac program, prospective students must satisfy the following requirements:

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university;
  • Complete eight semester hours with at least a “C” or better in each class in the following areas of study: general biology with labs, general chemistry with labs, and organic chemistry with labs;
  • Applicants are required to have completed at least three credits in the following areas of study: Physics, Economics, Statistics, Calculus, English and Psychology OR Sociology, along with 15 General Elective Credits (any non-science, non-math course).
  • Earn a cumulative grade point average of 2.7 or higher on a four-point scale with no course lower than a C; and
  • Provide scores from the Pharmacy College Admission Test (PCAT) if available (not required).

To be considered for admission to the Post Bac program with interest in the School of Dental Medicine, prospective students must satisfy the following requirements:

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university;
  • Complete eight semester hours with at least a “C” or better in each class in the following areas of study: general biology with labs, general chemistry with labs, and organic chemistry with labs;
  • Applicants are required to have completed at least three credits in Bio Chemistry and English. Applicants are not required but are strongly recommended to have completed at least three credits in the following areas of study: Physics with lab, Anatomy, Physiology, and Microbiology;
  • Earn a cumulative grade point average of 2.7 or higher on a four-point scale with no course lower than a “C”; and
  • Provide scores from the Dental Admissions Test (DAT). A score of 17 or higher (Academic Average), taken within the past three years, is required to be eligible for acceptance to the Health Sciences Post Baccalaureate Program.

Other important information to consider:

  • The Health Sciences Post Baccalaureate Program begins in September of each year.
  • The deadline to apply to the program is August 1st.
  • Approximately 87% of the students who complete the program matriculate to additional educational opportunities.
  • Those students who complete the program with at least a 3.0 GPA, pass all Post Bac classes, and achieve the required minimum on standardized exams will be guaranteed an interview at LECOM’s College of Medicine, School of Pharmacy, or School of Dental Medicine.
