Problem-Based Learning at LECOM Bradenton

LECOM Bradenton students participate in the PBL learning pathway.

All LECOM Bradenton Students enroll in the Problem Based Learning (PBL) Pathway. Through interaction in small-groups, medical students learn basic and clinical sciences by focusing on patient cases. Groups of eight students and a faculty facilitator meet several times per week to work through a particular case study and identify learning issues. In between PBL meetings, students work independently or together on the learning issues, then bring new information to the table to discuss and refine at subsequent meetings.

“PBL incorporates all aspects of being a doctor rather than segmenting subjects. I get a much better understanding of entire topics by working through case studies. And, we learn from each other. We can bounce ideas off one another and take advantage of each other’s strengths.
