LECOM Offers A Choice of Careers in Medicine and Pharmacy
The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine is preparing the next generation of primary
health care professionals trained in the osteopathic tradition of competent and compassionate
whole-person health care.
LECOM grants the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and the Doctor of Pharmacy degrees.
The medical and pharmacy professions complement each other by coordinating and emphasizing
competency and quality in health care. LECOM degree programs train a team of professionals who will
become the patients' partners on the pathway to health and well being.
To help maintain
the highest quality in medical education, LECOM has introduced a Masters of Science in Medical
Education. This two-year curriculum prepares clinicians who desire careers in academic medicine
and academic leadership. LECOM trains physicians who, as educational leaders, possess the
knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to create and sustain curricular innovation. Toward this
end, the Master of Science in Medical Education program was designed to assure that its graduates
are well equipped to advance the science and practice of medical education.
LECOM offers a
Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences degree. This two-year, curriculum provides a comprehensive
learning opportunity for college graduates who want to pursue careers in medicine, pharmacy, and
other health and science related professions, including medical and pharmaceutical research.
The LECOM Post Baccalaureate Program provides educational opportunities for students who
need to enhance their basic science credentials for admission to medical or pharmacy school.
The Lake Erie Consortium for Osteopathic Medical Training develops and oversees
post-graduate internship, residency and fellowship programs. LECOMT ensures quality post-graduate
medical education is available for those earning LECOM degrees.
