LECOM Continuing Medical Education - Meeting the educational needs of primary care health care professionals.
Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine is dedicated to the
philosophy of osteopathic medicine, which is a comprehensive approach to health care and the
prevention of disease. An integral part of the college's mission is to carry on educational
activities related to rendering care to the sick and injured, as well as the promotion of health.
The Continuing Medical Education Department has an essential part in the college mission and is
committed to providing the resources and facilities necessary to provide medical education
opportunities to the physicians of our community.
In support of its mission, and as one of
our goals, LECOM, through the CME Department, will provide quality cost effective continuing
education programs for its local regional and graduate physicians. Other goals of the Continuing
Medical Education Programs are to maintain and enhance excellence in patient care through our
programs; provide program management and coordination to the course director; and provide library
and audiovisual services as needed.
LECOM’s Continuing Medical Education
Programs are planned with Primary Care physicians in mind. Occasionally, programs directed to the
physician sub-specialists are sponsored according to the needs assessment. The types of activities
are determined through established procedures to identify needs and interests to physicians.
Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine's Continuing Medical Education Program is
dedicated to its mission. The programs are evaluated and modified continuously to ensure quality
CME programs. Each program is organized and directed in accordance with current continuing medical
education guidelines.
The American Osteopathic Medical Association has accredited
the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine as a category 1 Continuing Medical Education
Sponsor.
